ROCKTOBER 14

Today in integrated science, students received their motion map quizzes and we reviewed correct and incorrect answers. There will be a retake on Tuesday where students can earn up to a 16/18. Afterwards, we continued learning about velocity vs. time graphs and students whiteboarded potential solutions for example problems and then analyzed them for correctness. Students will need to finish the Motion maps and Velocity vs. Time Graphs worksheet.

Science 8 students began class by writing some statements that relate the terms convection currents, plate tectonics, and radioactive decay to one another. Then we began the Discovering Plate Boundaries Lab. Students were divided into four specialties: geography, geochronology, seismology, and volcanology. Students were asked in their groups to observe their specialty maps and a map of the tectonic plate boundaries. Then they were tasked with creating categories of plate boundaries based on the observations they made from their maps, but they were allowed to only make up to 5 categories. We will be continuing to do the lab into next week.
