Today in integrated science, students worked on their electricity test, and then read over their Classification of Matter reading. Students will be making a list of new vocab terms that they’ll be doing an activity with tomorrow.
Science 8 students today graded their Geologic Features and What they tell us Worksheet (based on their information in their packets yesterday). Students then played a short game. Looking at a map of Ohio’s bedrock, students listened to a description of Ohio’s geologic history, from being created by convergent boundaries to the glaciers that covered Ohio. Students were challenged to find evidence for every piece of information that was presented by throwing up their hands and identifying it. When finished, we reviewed how to do the Historical Geology Worksheet. Students will first put the lettered events in order, as we’ve done in the past. Then, next to each blank, students will write the information that each rock layer or event tells us. For example, in the packet from Wednesday students learned that a reverse fault is caused by a convergent boundary and compression. So, if letter K in a problem indicated a reverse fault, students would write, “Near a convergent boundary, compression” on the space next to letter K.
